When Micaela Connery was 15, she brought twenty kids of all abilities and backgrounds together to put on a show in her school. Inspired by her cousin Kelsey, Micaela’s teenage dream has grown into a national nonprofit, Unified Theater, and has served thousands of young people with and without disabilities in schools across the country. She is now a Global Shaper for the World Economic Forum, and has been named a DoSomething Award Winner, a Gloria T. A. Barron Young Hero, and a CNN Breakthrough Woman. Her work at Unified Theater, studies on inclusive design, and collaboration with international leaders, have driven Micaela’s belief that inclusion isn’t something “nice” or “helpful,” but rather a strategic practice that transforms leaders, organizations, and communities.
IWL and the Fischer Institute will welcome Micaela on October 28 for a talk and workshop focused on inclusive-design, entrepreneurship, leadership, and charting your own path. All are welcome (men and women; students, faculty, staff). Cultural credit will be offered to students.
Tuesday. October 28, 7pm Daniels Auditorium
