By Mary Daly ‘17
My name is Mary Daly and I’m a junior specializing in Accounting with a Business Communication minor. I work as a student ambassador in the Admissions office, and am Vice President of the Campus Activities Board, in the Honors program, and on the IWL Student Advisory Panel for the second year.
I chose to do an internship with IWL because when I first came to Nichols it was IWL’s first year, and I felt like I was a part of it as soon as I walked in for move-in day. I went to every single IWL-sponsored event that year, where I met a lot of people who I now consider my close friends. I agree with everything that IWL stands for, and wanted to be more involved in the movement; the internship was one of the best ways I felt I could do so. The resources and connections that are built through IWL both internally and externally will help female students in ways they can’t even begin to imagine, and I’m lucky to be a part of it.
This semester, my internship will include a lot of behind-the-scenes work, helping to plan events and activities on campus. I will also be helping to start a Lean In Circle for students and professionals, and will be researching other women’s programs around the country. In addition, I will be working in the IWL office and helping with the Student Advisory Panel. Feel free to contact me with any questions or suggestions at mary.daly@nichols.edu!
